2006 ultra audio issue

2006 ultra audio issue
I have a 2006 Ultra Classic Electra Glide. I removed the tour pack and my radio won't work unless I reconnect the amp that was under the tour pack. It looks as though I will have to mount the amplifier in the saddlebag. Won't my front fairing speakers work without the amplifier being plugged in?
