Default New Bike. Same Speakers?

I have 4 JL Audio speakers in my 2011 Limited Ultra, and a JL Audio amp in the tourpak. I got hit by a car on Sunday, and think I'm goin' with a Road Glide for my new ride. (Gotta test ride one first though! Gonna ride a Rushmore Ultra too.) Will my 6.5 JL Audio speakers fit into a RG fairing, or are there speakers that are specific to the Shark Nose fairing? If I get totalled, I'd like to get that JL stuff outta there before the bike gets hauled off.

Damn Jim, sorry to hear that man. You had your limited set-up nice....wheels, stereo, etc. I think the shark fairing speakers are a different mount than batwing.....My nephew has a 08 RG, with Biketronics front speakers only.....Good luck with the new non-black shark...Best, Doug

Thanks Doug. Yeah, I had it right where I wanted it. Ran good, and was planning to have it for awhile. Have 64K miles on it. Oh well. Things happen. I was lucky. The typical left turn at a stop sign, and into my lane. (Right here in town.) The car jammed the right highway peg into my foot, pushed lower into gas tank, and nothing else until the smashed up saddlebag. Could'very been my right leg. Never even went down, but sure felt the bike move. I'm fortunate to be injury-free, and able to go bike shopping.

Glad your ok!

As for fitment, most 6.5's will fit without issue provided they don't have huge magnets ie DD VO's, SV165's and some with large baskets ie DS18 will be an issue and require customization.

There is a thread on the roadglide forum that shows some but it hasn't been updated in a while.

BTW once you ride a shark, you'll be hooked <-- see what I did there?

I've actually been thinking about an Ultra, the wife has started riding with me (after 15 years lol).

She says she wants a Freewheeler but I have a feeling she'll stick with riding on the back of mine

You would do better to start a new thread with your upgrade questions.

The new RG fairings are a blessing and a curse. Most 6.5 speakers will just drop in with 4 screws after pulling the grills off. I know the Infinity Kappa's will. No pulling the fairing to upgrade speakers. The curse is the much less room under the fairing for an amp. Shop wisely and small.. Good luck with whatever you choose.
