Bunker would be the only one? What am I? Chopped liver Bert? Yes, the Arc Moto 602's will fit without an adapter ring, you will have to take off the rubber around the magnet,, or they hit in the speaker pod before they seat.

I didn't say or mean only. Bunker was the first RG person that came to mind. Please forgive me.

Damn, I'm looking forward to the 602's, between the videos by Bunker and JimTJr. I think they will be great. I have heard someone on one of the sites state they blew a pair. Something about boosting the bass to much. Is that possible ? I'm not in this for pushing the limits with this system but, do I need to be careful, can I blow a speaker ?

Blowing speakers is all about the gain settings and the crossover point. The lower the gain the better. The higher the crossover point the better. Basically I'm talking set up. Set your crossover point from 80-100Hz and your gains to match the HU signal and you're golden. Also make sure your amplifier power does not exceed twice the RMS rating for the speaker. Basically if you have a speaker rated at 75 watts RMS. You can throw 150 watts to those speakers all day long. 75 x 2.0 = 150. 250-300 watts would be an issue. That said. Most speaker ratings from an RMS standpoint are underrated. In other words the speaker can generally handle more power than what it's rated. 1.8 to 2.0 is a good number, But you never want to go over 2.5. Bass boost is not a good thing for full range speakers because it forces the speaker to handle frequencies the speaker is not capable of handling. Always check the frequency range of a speaker before set up and set your crossovers accordingly.

Regarding the gains, I tend to use 1.5 RMS for my headroom max with the caveat to also never exceed the max rating of the speak. 85-95 HPF seems to work damn good for my ears as well.

Just remember, bass seems to be the leading contributor to distortion and blowing up 6.5s. They can only do so much as a small speak thus make sure u keep a keen ear for any distortion. Get a clean signal from ur HU and amp and off u go. Max clean HU volume on Boom 6.5 is 3/4.

The BT2180 has 180 watts rms per channel peak 360, with the 602's at 90 watts peak 160w. Those numbers are a little off on the Peak level. Is that a factor ? I won't be pressing the system. Just want to be aware of the do's and dont's. An ear for distortion seems to be the key here, correct ?

No worries on the Moto's and the BT2180. Those Moto's will take 180 watts all day long.

I agree T. 1.5 is probably the safer metric to use for guys just starting out. Recording levels of different genre's of music can also be a factor in regard to headroom. But yeah. 1.5 will always be safe.

Thanks T.
