2017 Road Glide amp and speaker install
I bought all the stuff for my bike and plan on installing it this weekend.
here is what I have:
JL MHX280/4
Arc Audio 602 speakers
BT 355 line levelor
Wiring stuff
I have a few questions and was hoping to get some advice.
Thank You!

- I got a recommendation to mount the amp with Velcro. The problem I'm seeing is that the access panel for the amp would be covered. I could cut a hole in the Velcro, or I could fabricate a mounting bracket....
- Should I split the speaker pods and seal them with silicone?
- Should I put polyfil in the pods, if so, how much?
- Should I use electrical tape and tape the connections between my RCA cables (the standard patch cords to the Y adapters) and at the ends of the BT 355 and amp?
- Should I run the ground for the amp all the way back to the battery?
- What do I use for the "power on" source for the amp?
Thank You!

I mounted mine when I ran it on top of the headlight, you simply cut the tabs off the top of the headlight.
You then have some natural channels.
I bought some Aluminum that fit right in the channels then I ran some metal strips horizontally and secured the amp to them.
Best and most secure mounting I've had to date, I actually run another amp in the same spot now.

I've used polyfil, I have some in there now but tbh I don't think it makes a difference.
I tape my RCA's in place just because I hate having to deal with those damn screws on the wind deflectors when you take the fairing off 100 times
I run a 4 ga ground from the battery to a distribution block in the fairing but I have 2 amps (at one time I had 3 amps). I prefer to ground to the battery, taking off the tank is easy enough on the newer bikes.
You can tap into the cigarette outlet or you can get a plugin adapter from V-Twin audio for $20 (I initially used the cigarette lighter but use the V-Twin adapter now).

where did you get the aluminum? If it was at a Home Depot or the like, please tell me what area.
Thank you!

I'm not Bunker but....
Home Depot & Lowes has the aluminum in the hardware department.
Once you set the gains on the amplifier, you won't need to access the panel on the bottom of the amp.
Even though the 3M Industrial Velcro and/or 3M Body side-moulding tape will hold your amp very secure, I mounted my MHX280/4 to an aluminum plate with screws. When the temperatures hit 100+ here in West Texas, I've had the Velcro come unglued. The Side-moulding tape has never failed, but is a one-time use product.
