Default CB cutting out audio

Wanted to share a situation I had with my 2012 FLHTK Ultra Limited. When the CB was on, while listening to any audio source (radio, CD, Aux), the CB would occasionally cut out the audio source for a short period, sometimes multiple times. When this occured, the CB indicator on the LCD screen would go bold. The dealer, after advising me to turn off the CB unless I was using it and that I could not listen to audio while the CB was on, and I let them know others reported that it sounded like I was trying to transmit, determined there was a loose connection and supposedly repaired it. Less than two weeks later, the problem re-appeared prompting a second trip to the shop.

This time, when they spoke to the MoCo, during troubleshooting, they would apply pressure to different points on the radio's chassis resulting in numerous strange behaviors (Mic messages, error displays, etc.). They have now replaced the head unit (radio only, not the CB too), and it is once again supposedly finished.

I will follow up letting everyone knowing the outcome.

maybe a dumb question, but did adjusting the CB squelch control up a little have any effect upon the cutting out problem ? ,,,,,,

Let me know how this turns out - I may have the same problem. Radio on - CB on, the radio cuts out 50-75% of the time. My brother said it sounded like some one was keying their mike - only the two of us, same thing on 4 different channels. Problem went away when I turned my cb off, came back when I turned it back on. Tried switching antennas - no difference in either radio or cb. CB only seemed to work when we were with-in 50 feet.

Changing the squelch made no difference. My brothers (Goldwing) worked fine with his Goldwing club ride.

Thanks

I brought my bike in to the dealer a couple weeks ago. Their first attempt to fix the issue was to adjust the squelch and they told me it was fixed..... On their second attempt they found that the wires for the PTT button had the insulation scuffed off and were shorting - thus it worked while stopped, but the radio would cut out while moving...

This seems to have fixed it, over 500 miles with out the radio cutting out. I have not had a chance to try out the CB yet, but at least I can listen in and not have the radio cut out all the time.
