Thats interesting. . . Can you guys educate me on how the "Brain" works for the head unit? I'm in unfamiliar territory with the brain. I thought it was a DSP.

Actually I've heard that terminology before. . . long time ago. Pioneer usually doesn't joke about stuff like that. I could be wrong. . .

He's not joking, on higher end units they will separate out the preamp outputs and some of the other electronics, DSP chip, processor etc, and leave just a front end controller and amp (amp optional some high end units only do preamp outputs) high outputs in the radio body. With his because it's a flip out display in a single din enclosure there is very limited space in the head unit itself.

Correct,......that is the 'brain' for the head unit.....Cool thing is, it came with a 15' harness that connects it to the head unit.....

I thought it would be better to put the brain in the tourpack, so my RCA wires would only have to be 9" long to reach the amps, instead of running the length of the bike...

Worked out in my favor , for sure !!

So if you disconnect the 4180, no issues with voltage? Are you sure your gauge isn't the issue? I would take a look at your ground wire on the amp
