Looking to just upgrade the speakers on my 2014 street glide special. Any suggestions? Just speakers no amps.

 

I would just leave it stock. Why do you want to upgrade the speakers ??

you'll either need the boom audio upgraded grills or you can mount the speaker inside the pod and stay with the stock grills.

I want to do the same but with an amp. I want to use a rockford amp. What does it mean to flash the system. Does the dealer have to do this or can it be done by me. Thanks

 

which speakers perform better the polk mm651's or the infinity kappa's

 

they're about the same truthfully. the biggest disadvantage to the polks is the crossover box you need to mount somewhere.

I personally prefer the Polks but with the issues they've had with the glue on the tweeter stalks coming apart, I don't recommend them anymore.

 

What about the JL C2-650x? They are 4ohm, does this cause problems with the stock head unit?

 

4 ohm speakers will work fine powered off the head unit but going into 4 ohms the speakers will receive roughly half the power they were receiving with 2 ohm speakers giving the impression of less sound and more distortion as you try to compensate and turn the radio up. If your going to change to those speakers I'd do an amp as well.
