Procharger vrs Trask
Kind of bummed this forum isn't more active. A little background first. I've always been a gear head and into hot rods and bikes. I've been drag racing cars for 30 years, I started with N/A motors, then nitrous, and then twin turbo motors for the last 12 years or so, I've had motors with a LOT of HP, speed and power are all relative and have to be respected especially on the street. I'm very capable of turning wrenches, TIG welding, computer savvy and EFI savvy, assembling engines, fabricating and all the other goodies that go along with building and racing cars, but, I know when to shut my yap and let a specialist do his thing. I don't want a super high HP/TQ motor, but something I can ride and enjoy that has some *** when I occasionally want to roll the throttle a little.
I'm really leaning towards a Procharger but after doing Google searches I've seen some belt issues, and some other random mechanical failure issues. The Trask set up seems very easy on the motor in general with low maintenance, very reliable. However I am kind of steering away from the turbo because I've been drag racing with them for so long I want to try something new. I have to be honest, I don't like the overall look of the turbo set up, it's just not as clean as the Procharger, I also am not a fan of "any" lag especially on a bike, and, I sit in a lot of traffic so any added heat is not an option as I get older I want to be comfortable and I know turbos, and heat are just the nature of the beast.
I have seen some shops like Drago's seem like they really know their **** and I will eventually reach out to them, but I wanted to get some feedback from some of you guys that have owned and actually driven one or the other. I am not looking at any other options like the rear mounted turbo or any of the other blower options. The Thomson roots blower is cool, but just too bulky. Just please don't be biased based on what is on your bike, but what your experience has been like with the product and reliability, heat with the turbo, maintenance with the belts Prochargers have, etc. Thanks

I MUCH prefer the "look" of a turbo over a blower on a touring bike....and came this close to pulling the trigger on a trask set up at the end of last year...but the total came out to be just a couple thousand more than I could justify with work being slow. So I went with a Dragos 2.5 98" build and full suspension and blacking out on my 06 Road Glide instead. As far as the heat issue....I've seen LOTS of comments about how the heat "must" be uncomfortable.....but I've NEVER seen a comment about how it "is" uncomfortable. Hell, they're located in PHOENIX....I've seen LOTS of comments from trask owners about how much they LOVE their setup...not one about major issues or problems.

I looked at both options and I ended up going with a pro charger and I love it. Smooth throttle and lots of power.. I had my build done by DAS Performance in Dracut ma who did top quality work. If you google procharger Harley my bike is the black SG on the dyno in the DAS dyno room. all I can say is get it, you will love it

I hawe used the basic trask kit on my 07 StreetGlide for two years now. First year with the stock engine. Today i running a 117". Turbo lag is not a big issue with the Trask kit, the turbo is pretty smaal and builds boost wery fast. I feel that the hole kit is high quality, yes it is pretty expensive, but try to build a NA engine with 300 NM and se what that cost I am super happy with the Trask. Use the bike almost every day, and a big bonus is the coolest turbo sound. (sorry for my bad English)

The only qualm I have is that by the time you add everything on the procharger/trask you end up more expensive than say the Aero. I'd suggest giving Frank that call and go through the pricing and see if you come up with the same costing I did when I was looking into it. The other strong selling point to me on the Aero Charger was the ability to get instant on. the newest one is even more intriguing, but living in FL I do worry about the heat.

My experience is with the pro charger.
There are better sprag clutch's offered by aftermarket and I even believe they can be sourced through pro charger. The whole 6 ribbed belts are an option also. BUT their belt life is their life.
Good news if the belt does brake, and the bike is tuned correctly. It can still be ridden and wont leave you stranded.

Almost forgot, Aerocharger heat is less than trask and self contained oiling, Low maintenance, low heat great performance with variable vane..
