Aerocharger really enjoys building the very best product we can for some great customers. We have worked with HD directly and hold many Bonneville records and we truly enjoy what we do. In this case there is always two sides to a story. Several years ago, this customer purchased a Beta kit and requested the very best in throttle response, so the kit was shipped with a smaller of the 53-series turbos to give the very best throttle response. Shortly after installing the kit, the customer upsized the motor to a built 117ci from the stock 103ci. With high levels of boost, the bike was producing 240tq and maxing out the turbo. Aerocharger provided him, at no cost, the larger 53-series turbo. A few months ago we were contacted by the customer and we offered to sell him an upgrade to the large 66-series turbo capable of making 300+ very easily. The customer demanded that we give him the 66 turbo at no cost or he would rather spend the money with his Attorney. Aerocharger later agreed to look at his turbo as the mechanic stated the boost controller had an issue. Inspection of the turbo showed signs of FOD (Foreign Object Damage) aka something hard went through the turbo. The customer and mechanic had no idea how this could happen. Aerocharger repaired his turbo at no charge to avoid a lawsuit. In a recent picture the customer posted we can see where the mechanic had drilled into the exhaust and installed sniffers. This is common practice for non-turbo motorcycles. When you drill a hole in a pipe it is very common to produce a cookie that hangs on by a thin piece. With this picture, we now know the source of the FOD that damaged the turbo. The customer did have a cracked header and wanted us to send a new one for free. We notified the customer the warranty was over and we had already gone above and beyond with the free upsize of the turbo and a free repair to the turbo after being damaged by the cookie hitting the turbine at 150,000 RPM. As of last week, the customer and mechanic were happy with the performance of the motorcycle but wanted a free header. We are not happy with the outcome of this customer’s experience in any way, but we feel that at some point the threats and cuss out ssessions are too much. If this customer would like to send us parts to be repaired, we would be more than happy to continue to support our product.
Thank you for your time to read our side of the story.
