Are there any other modifications that need to be done to the engine when a turbo/supercharger are installed? It seems to me like the connecting rods would take a real beating and the compression ratio would have to be altered. I'm just speculating here, I'm no engine mechanic.

Nope... Stock compression, stock everything, except I have installed an EV31 blower cam. Stock clutch too...on a 110hp 80" Evo.

I've seen a big twin once, with an actual blower on it.
No unsightly tubing or plumbing. It was installed on the right side of the bike, with its air cleaner.

Someone was saying that he could hardly keep a tranny mainshaft from snapping. This was around the year 2000. It was on a Softail I think.

I wish I knew where that unit came from.

It was probably a roots style Magnacharger. Saying that he couldn't keep the mainshaft from snapping would make sense considering roots blowers add a MASSIVE amount of low end torque. I have heard nothing but problems with those blowers.
Prochargers are much better in that aspect in that boost is increased based on rpm...which equals less strain overall on the engine. I just rode 320 miles on my bike this past Saturday with absolutely no reliability issues. You can't say the same with the Magnacharger

PROCHARGER ALL THE WAY!!!

Howdy - I don't own a Sportster because I can't afford a bigger bike. I sold my Road king to keep the Sporty because it is Fast!!...looks good, sounds most honorable and I can handle it almost like a dirtbike compared to that other beast. I won't be going cross country on the Sporty but it would not be a possibility at my advanced age. I'm thinking about a turbo because it just sounds like fun

man...Magnacharger went out of fashion when Noah landed the ark! There are far better and more reliable systems in the marketplace now (I guess they got caught napping!)
