Been with TD for a few years, but they decided to want 450bucks more for 2016. Called Dalton Timmis and got a quote that was $100 less then i paid last year and switched. I'd recommend you give them a try yourself.

Had TD for 4 years at less than 1100. This year upped it to 1550 dropped em like a hot potato. Called Riders Plus got for 1200 still better than TD. I think they want out of the insurance for bikes business. Bet there are a ton of people dropping them. I asked them why I thought insurance was going down in Ontario. They said oh thats for cars only. Yeh blow it out your hole liberals. Anyway gotta ride.

I had TD for my Goldwing and Ultra Classic. This months renewal saw it jump by about $250 a bike....yah right. Went to DA Kurt out of Kitchener(Dave Kurt) He is a broker, a rider and a nice guy. Not sure about the M1 rate, but he will search around for you. I moved my house and car insurance from TD also, saved a lot of money. It worth a call. 519-579-5440. I have no affiliation connection whatsoever with this place other than my insurance purchase.

I ve been with state farm with my first touring bike thru the accident and into my new ultra limited, last year my insurance was 1850 for the year on renewal this year I am down to 1350 for the year with full coverage on my 2014. I was going to switch to TD last year but they ended up being 45 dollars more for me than statefarm was. Seems like in Ontario its like a throw of the dice on insurance payments.

You really don't have much leeway for bike insurance in Ontario. You really cant cancel a policy half way thru the year without significant hit to the premium. Its all front end loaded where the company takes most of the premium within the first 90 to 120 days. Cancel after that and you will get pennies on the dollar. Not much sense in not insuring for the whole year as well. Most if not all insurance companies will ask about 'continuous coverage' and if you don't have it then they likely will quote you as a new rider or new owner. M/C insurance is so much different that automobile....you can easily reduce coverage on a car if you are going to park it over the winter for example but not so easy (if at all) for a bike. Ontario is one of the highest places in North America to insure a bike so it hurts the wallet for sure. One way to offset some of the premium is to consider 'umbrella' insurance that covers additional risks for your home and autos and extends to your bike. I have it and it did make a difference and raised my coverage quite a bit. Enjoy that new bike of yours and know that this insurance thing is just part of the price you pay to play.
