Default Mikuni Carb on a Wide Glide

Hey guys. Recently purchased a 99 Wide Glide. It has a Mikuni carb but I'm not certain the exact model. I suspect it's an HSR42. I can't see any stamps from viewing the area without removing the breather. Any idea where the markings may be?

Here's a couple of shots:

I have had my '45' off and/or apart several times, never seen it marked. My guess would be using the throat size or pull needle/jet (unless previous user swapped them). Unless the motor is really worked, should be a '42'

Okay, thanks. I do suspect it's a 42. I'll investigate further once the cold weather rolls in.

The model markings on my polished HSR45 are on the left side of the carb body (when viewed from the front), behind the brass vent tube. It is almost impossible to see the markings with the carb installed in the bike. In your second pic, if you remove that breather assembly bolt, it will be behind the brass vent tube beside where the fuel inlet tube routes. Looks like from the fuel varnish stains around the rim of the float bowl that a rebuild may be in order anyway.

Bet you anything that it is a HSR42 since your motor is only mildly modded.

Well, i got the carb removed today. 1st time through was an adventure. Next time will be a breeze, it's always the way .

Anyways, it is an HSR42, specifically an HSR42-6. I haven't torn into it yet but I will. I'm including a pic of the model markings.

Mikuni has a great tuning guide for this carb with an exploded diagram as well as all the various part numbers, including the rebuild kits number, which is KHS-016. Here's a link to the Mikuni pdf which is on their public site. No copyright issues on this one. Hope it helps someone else too.
