Red face different threads

went to harley yesterday and picked up 2 new jet sizes for 1995 883 sporty currently have 48 pilot and 190 main got a new 45 pilot and 165 main the problem i have is the threads for the new main jet is different is there different threads types for the main jet or a different tube or do you think the 190 main will work now that i downsized the pilot this bike ran great till plugs would foul out

Possible someone has installed a Dyno Jet (or similar) kit previously-which uses a different (thread) emulsion tube in which the main jet screws into.If you are going to use/try stock main jets,you're going to need a stock emulsion tube.

i looked on the ole interweb and found out i have a dyno jet emulsion tube with a 190 main you are correct no wonder the new stock 165 main wouldnt fit lol either the previous owners of this bike was tryn to hide a intake leak or plain foolish to put those big jets in a little bike it does have a stock needle i checked (also curious bout that) so off to my harley dealer again for another visit lol thnx i sure i will have many more questions before i get this new to me bike purring

holy chit....a 48 and 190 in a sporty! Sounds like the carb was a take-off unit from a 1340 as those sizes are about right for the larger engine. I recon your needle may be off as well....what does it have written on it?

not sure about needle it looks stock the carb is a california type carb but i replaced slow jet to 45 and main jet to 165 with a new stock emulsion tube the old jets was 48 slow and dynojet 190 or same size as a 215 kein with dynojet emulsion tube gonna replace intake gaskets and exhaust gaskets and put carb back on soon to see if helped or i made worse lol
