In confused. You said you were running a 42 so I suggested a 45 now that you sealed your intake leak and next post you have a 48? Was the 42 a typo? What do you have for a needle and is it shimmed?

yes sealed intake bike ran perfect on a 42, longer i rode it the more surging started moved to 45 lil better back to 48 flawless, i dunno if intake leaking again or what, but with a 48 it runs with no issues, i called about 10 dealers today service dept, they all said u never had a leak to begin with if ran well, as they wont run right with a leak nomatter what u do, i said well i spray carb cleaner it will change idle, they said on evo the mist will get sucked in breather use wd 40, well i have used wd 40 from the get go, never did change the idle with it, only with carb cleaner, they also said with my pipes and ac 48 pilot sounds right, embarrassing to say but looks like i was chasing my tail, i just have the theory if spray anything at flange and it changes that seems like a leak? lol, all i know is im back to a 48 pilot and it runs absolutely perfect, ive used a whole can wd u cannot make it change, even see the suddy foam layin around flange, 1 squirt carb cleaner she bogs?????

I'm in the same boat as you. 96 heritage tuned with a 180/48 and ran fine for years but I suspected a manifold leak. After replacing the gaskets and leaving the jetting it runs wayyyyyyyyy rich. I belive it had a minor leak and was jetted to compensate. I went down to a 44 idle and I'm waiting till after work till my main jets come in. Gonna try a 175 main. I have really short pipes and an open cleaner. Rain today so I won't even be able to test it. As for the 180/44 set up now it runs really good but pops on decel. Minor but hopefully I'll figure it out.
