Default S&S Super E & G Carbs *

S&S Super E & G Carbs were introduced in 1990 and have become the best selling performance carb in market. Now S&S has produced the 500,000th Super Shorty carb. Good looks, easy tuning and exceptional performance make the S&S Super Shorty carbs the ones to get. So how do you improve on that? A simple design change makes the Super Shorty carbs more tunable for radical cams and exhaust. How does it work? Its in the main fuel circuit air bleed. Older S&S Shorty carbs had a fixed air bleed for the main circuit, sized for the best all around performance. Starting October 1, 2003, all Super E and G carbs have a replaceable jet in its place. This allows fine tuning of the main circuit air bleed which determines the rpm at which the main fuel circuit begins to feed fuel. A smaller air bleed causes the main circuit to "come in" at a lower rpm. A larger air bleed causes it to come in at a higher rpm. This can be very useful when tuning high performance systems, which often, exhibit some harmonic reversion problems that inhibit exhaust flow at a specific rpms. Which one do I need, an E or G?: As a general rule Super E carbs are for street engines up to about 100 cubic inches. The smaller 17 8" (47.6mm) bore creates higher air velocity, which results in better low and midrange response and power. The Super G is best for street engines of no less than 90 cubic inches. However, in spite of the fact that the Super G's larger 21 16" (52.3mm) bore allows more air to pass, and provides more peak horses, slower air velocity at lower rpm causes poor throttle response and weaker midrange torque in smaller engines. For most engines of 90-100 cubic inches we recommend the Super E for better low and midrange response. But if peak horsepower is what you want, a Super G would be appropriate. Super E Carburetor on Twin Cams: S&S Super E carbs work well on Twin Cam engines under 100 cubic inches displacement, especially when used with performance cams and exhaust. For larger engines we recommend the Super G carb.Easy Installation: Installation is easy because carbs are sold in complete kits that contain everything needed to install the carb on the specified model. All kits include a step by step installation instruction book and tuning guide.Compatible with Stock Throttle Cables On All Late Model Big Twins: For safety, all S&S carbs use a two cable throttle system. Carbs for Big Twins are compatible with stock 1981-2005 cables. Carb kits for late model Big Twins, originally equipped with CV carbs, include a taller throttle cable guide bracket that allows longer CV style cables. Kits for earlier model Evo Big Twins with either a butterfly or CV type carb include both a shorter bracket for butterfly style cables and the tall bracket for CV style cables. Due to inadequate frame clearance the taller throttle bracket can not be used on Sportsters. Late model Sportsters and Buells require the earlier butterfly style throttle cables. Cruise Control: Super "Shorty" carbs can be installed on motorcycles equipped with factory cruise control. Adapter kits are available for 1993-97 and for 1998-2005 models. Kits include all parts and instructions. S&S "Shorty" Carbs Easy Tuning: S&S Shorty carbs are easy to tune. These butterfly style carbs have only two fuel circuits, not counting the starting system or accelerator pump. Idle mixture, idle speed, and accelerator pump adjustments are easily accessible when the carb is installed. The low speed circuit which handles speeds from idle up to about 2500 rpm, is controlled by a changeable jet which meters fuel to the intermediate system as well as the idle mixture control needle. The intermediate provides the best performance and fuel economy at lower rpms, and the idle mixture screw allows precise adjustment of the air/fuel mix at idle. The adjustable accelerator pump eliminates off idle hesitation and can be adjusted to provide the correct amount of fuel for a wide variety of displacements and styles. The accelerator pu
