Default Bike stalls at stop lights

I just bought an 01 Deuce. It has not been ridden much lately.. but does start fairly easily. Owner said might need come carb work or tune up. He said he NEVER used the choke... I don't have a problem using if needed.

I am a huge fan of Sea Foam and just topped off the tank and put in 5oz of sea foam.

I have to leave the choke out about a 1/4 inch or so to keep the bike running at stops.

Would it help to turn up the idle speed a bit so I don't have to use the choke even after warm up.

thanks

brett

Do not use more tank additive then it says on bottle. It will dissolve the brass screen. Fresh gas will do wonders unless it has a little water at bottom of tank or idle jet is clogged. Just 10% ethanol will absorb the water as long as it's not much.
I have opened up FI bikes that additive made mush of the FI pre-filter sock..
Few year ago, my bike would not idle but seemed to run fine above idle. It was a little moisture at the bottom from a local gestation that had it's tank go bad.
Turn up the idle screw or just **** the throttle till you run a few tanks of gas thru it. What I did since mine has no idle adjustment.

May be an intake leak.

Remove the carb, remove the manifold, replace the seals.

Disassemble and clean the carb.

Harley CV Carburetor Mixture Tuning

there are tons of rebuild videos for harley carbs on youtube

read the sticky threads at the top of the carburetor related page

i hear sea foam can be bad.
if you turn up the idle to fix what might not be the problem, you are just making things worse all around.

I would add drain the fuel and remove the gas tap, clean and flush tap and tank to remove any accumulated yuk. Put the gas you take out into your auto and use fresh gas for your bike. Continue as suggested above.
