Default Bendix Carbs

How does one go about installing a new accellerator pump?? Just tried and I ruined a brand new pump. WTF?? Should I soak it first or what?? It is the leather type

Don't be afraid to lube it up some. I've always used something like a water soluble KY, so the gas can wash it away and then soak into the leather so it can swell and create the necessary seal. I wouldn't use grease, because it could prevent the fuel from absorbing into the leather. I've also found that if you start one side, then spin it slightly as you push it in, that prevents the leather from wanting to roll up. Do not soak it in gas first that will cause it to swell and make it much harder to install. Hope this helps.
