Won't idle and choke won't stay on
Working on a 1993 883 with screaming eagle pipes.
The bike will not run except when you have the choke held open full or when throttled way up.
I have rebuilt and full cleaned the carb with new gaskets and diaghram (old diaghram was shredded and the carb was lacquered and green inside). Completely cleaned out the fuel tank and fuel filter.
The bike will not stay at idle at all and only runs when you hold the choke all the way open (the choke will not stay open on its own) or when you hold the throttle open, otherwise it dies.
I do not know the history of this bike or if when upgraded to screaming eagle pipes the jets were done.
Any ideas?

Take a close look at the choke ****, as you can adjust it at the body, so the **** stays where you put it. There is an idle adjuster on the carb, which holds the throttle open a little and should enable you to set the idle speed, so it ticks over. Only adjust that when warmed up properly.
There is an idle air bleed screw underneath the carb that will enable you to adjust idle air/fuel ratio, to enrich it if necessary. If the screw is covered (which they are as stock) you will need to remove the carb and very carefully drill through the cover, so you can prise it off. Take a look at one of the on-line parts websites, such as this one, to see what and where things are.
