Great job Chris - awesome machine you crafted there! From the thread title, honestly, not what I expected to read, but mildly pleased to run through 5-pages of your handiwork. Keep it up & ride-on!
A buddy of mine saw,in person, a bike built by OCC.[it was a bike they built for Snap-On tools, iirc]
He said the welding on the bike was SO bad, that he could do better welding by telling a novice how to do it over the phone!!!
Everybody's a critic when it comes to welding, and a wire feed without gas isn't going to look as good as a tig weld, but as long as it holds I'm happy with it.
My rear mount is as solid as any other part of the frame, and much stronger a connection than the aftermarket plate you can buy and bolt on. That option for the 96 wasn't being produced at the time anyway.

Thanks, glad you liked it. The title came because the custom forum had no custom builds going on, so that's what I thought.
Have you seen the first one, "this forum is dead"? It's another bike I put together.
It's those shitty paper gaskets ultima uses. While your in there might as well as do some upgrades from the baker catalog like the anti overshift pawl and a nice shift drum. Maybe even trap door bearings. Look at me trying to spend your money

Haha! Hey good advice is always welcome!
I found its not that serious after all. Because I'm using the spedo pick up that works with the RK harness, I had to modify it's installation; this pick up is longer than the one the ultima trany uses.
It's my engineering that's failed, not ultimas. I'll have to figure a better solution.
