Default Permanent Fairing removal.

Any one with experience removing fairing from FLH models permanently and redoing speedo,wiring etc.What does it take to make a FLH look like it never had one?

Well, " back in the day" they used to put sporty front ends on FLH's and used the speedo on the top riser clamp.&nbsp\\; Guess what?&nbsp\\; Willie G Davidson, took that fad and made the "Superglide" in 1971, and that's why Superglides until the end of 2005 had sporty front ends on there!
&nbsp\\;
So, put the speedo on the handlebar clamp, or put a dash cluster on the tank.
&nbsp\\;
Or...skip the speedo completely!
&nbsp\\;
Kinda cool you want to do this......guys quit doing this&nbsp\\;to FL's 30+ years ago.[&:]

Well I remember those days and I don't want a faring.Theres lots of FLHs out there for sale! In years back bikers use to take Glides and de Glide them or in plain terms stripped them down.Then some cut the frames,called a rake.Some added fork extensions and it was a chopper.I'm also wanting to extend the front forks several inches.2 to 4.I'm 54 and was a kid back when and remember big twin Harleys set up this way.I want to do my own without going drastic. Thanks for the history,learn something new every day! I'd like to see a FLH with the fairing removed to see what all is needed and most simple.

The pic in my sig is a superglide that has been raked 6 degrees and lowered 1.6 inches in the rear.&nbsp\\; Can't go any lower without getting rid of the shocks and going with solid struts.
&nbsp\\;
Anything I can do to help, just let me know.

Look, in all honesty, FLH forks look like hell.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; The factory never worried about their appearance because they were hidden by the fairing.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; If you want it done right, you need to at least swap the triple trees out.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; That way you are still using the fork tubes, sliders, and front wheel.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Alot of shops, like Jireh Cycles can sell you the trees and tins to go around it, so that it looks like an old Duo~Glide front end, just like the Fat Boy as well.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
about $250 bucks will get you a mint sportster front end if you want to go that way on eBay....I see them on there all the time.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Just keep in mind that is a Narrow Glide setup, and the FL front fender WON'T work.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
Then just get some Progressive rear spings with the full covering, and it'll look 30+ years old!
