Default 80" evo blown head gasket

I have a 80" evo in my bobber. The other night while riding home. it started sounding real funny and i gassed it so see if it got louder, a bunch of sparks came out of the (at the time i thought carb) and exhuast . but i pulled the heads so find a blown head gasket on the rear cyilider. My question is . can i just replace that with a new head gasket? everyting else looks really good on the motor. Thanks. Kodi

Default RE: 80"\\; evo blown head gasket

only reason for sparks is metal to metal contact.&nbsp\\; Better check the top of the piston for marks.&nbsp\\; Most of the time if a vavle hits a piston, it's all over,....the valve is bent.[&o]&nbsp\\; weird, never heard of sparks before.&nbsp\\; Check for damage on top of pistons, if nothing, replace the gasket and go for it, in my opinion.

Default May not have to be metal to metal contact. . . .

Not necessarily. It is an internal combustion engine. The fuel/air mixture is ignited under pressure and it makes sense that if the head gasket was compromised the resulting explosion is going to follow the path of least resistance. The "sparks" may have just been the normal operation of the engine leaking past the gasket.
