My money is on the compression releases not working. In very cold weather the motor should turn over easily, if they are working, even if it doesn't start. If it is turning over but won't start, try different plugs.

If the starter struggles to turn the motor past compression then it looks like the valves are not working.

Do you have an S&S dealer near by, you can ask? Or phone S&S themselves.

I'm having the same damn problem, 113 S&S, been on the tender for weeks and the temps here have been in the sixties.

Comp releases are working, getting fuel, getting spark. I checked the plugs and they were soaked so, .....Went and got new plugs and same chit.... spins over but no start ???
WTF ??

on my 111, I had to replace the rear electronic compression release last summer. the bike had what sounded like a massive vaccum leak. turned out the release valve broke and the rubber cap was gone and so was the whole center valve piece. just the body of the thing with a big open hole thru the center was left. I replaced the rear one and it was fine. this weekend I just happened to push down the front one and it wouldn't pop back up. I never tried to start the bike, but I knew if it was sticky it would be a problem. I removed the rubber cap and tried to pull up the center valve piece and the whole center shaft pulled right out of it. I looked like it uncrewed (didn't look broken) from the bottom piece. when looking at the shaft, the thin rod pulled out of the bigger top piece. it is splined together and looks like the roll pin holding it together must have broken. I talked to S&S and they said don't even bother trying to fix it just replace it with a new compressin release. good thing I bought a complete set (pair) last year.

anybody else having a lot of failures with the S&S electronic compression releases?
