man fantastic advice! now i need to find a hydro set up... he has a 2013 road king so i have some hunting to do... hope i can find a stock HD set up to use. thanks again!

No bagger would be complete without the bags right. After looking around for way too long and not being sure exactly what would fit I chose a set of National cycle cruiseliner hard bags, I was pretty pleased with there style and looks and seen many good reviews on there durability But one thing that did dissapoint me is that they had a weight limit of 11lbs pre bag and a max. speed rating of 80mph. Ok 127ci engine with a 6 speeed ummm yea.
and my 12 pack weighs more than 11lbs. so time to fix that ( the bags that is)
after careful inspection the only reason I could see for the limits were the way the bags were mounted kinda flimsy in my opinion so i fabbed up some custom mounts using 1/16th inch flat steel stock and mounted the bags to them with 1/4" socket head screws and 1/16" cross braces inside the bags basically sandwiching the bags between 2 pieces of steel flat stock, these aren't going anywhere at any speed and should hold at least 25lbs each.

after mounting everything too the fender struts I thought the bags stuck out too far and interfered with my 3/4" thick sissy bar so out came the cutting wheel and cut the bags to fit around the sissy bar, now they sit within a 1/2" of the seat, still need to make up the filler strips but were getting there.

 

bags flow nicely... when i did mine i cut a plate inside the bag to spread weight out, this way i could put a case not just a 12 pack in there. The bags look good man
