My bike has some pinstriping painted on over the clear coat which I would like removed, does anyone have a good way to do it without damaging the factory paint. Thanks,

I have used oven cleaner in the past and it worked good.

I would use some 2000 grit wet sand paper and when the stripe is gone, Follow with some polishing compound to remove the micro scratches and then wax

I second HD 7585's suggestion.....I would stay away from the oven cleaner on paint, although it does work well removeing rust and melted tennis shoes from the exhaust........

oven cleaner works fine and doesn't hurt the paint, not sure why but we used to buy cars that were lettered all the time and this is when I learned from our detailer how he got all the lettering off, it worked amaznig, unless you didn't wear gloves and had a small cut on a finger.

Guys, think of what you are saying about the oven cleaner............... It wont hurt the paint? ............ The stripes are PAINTED ON not vinyl stripes. Kinda sounds like an oxy moran to me......................

oven cleaner will strip anodizing off, oxidize aluminum, and strip the color out of any currency in yoru wallet (dont ask me how I know)

you htink it is not hurting your paint? Have fun

oven cleaner works perfect, also can go the laquer thinner method but have to be real careful and make sure you know what your doing. oven cleaner is by far the easiest and it will NOT hurt the factory paint unless it's 30 days or less old.

Take it to an experianced painter and let them buff it off for you.
