Default Chip on the inside of my Outer Primary Cover

There's a pretty large chip on the inside of my Outer Primary Cover. The bike either came with it when I bought it used last year or the guy who used to service my bike did it (I say used to because I found he only did about half of the work I paid them to do last time I brought my bike in). Does anyone know if there is some way to repair it?

I could be wrong, but that looks like chain rub to me. Hopefully someone smarter will know for sure.

Am I missing something? Why would it need to be "repaired"? Don't sweat it.

that is from the chain not being adjusted properly and having sag. Adjust the chain and or ditch the shitty stock auto tensioner

Please excuse my ignorance. I thought if I didn't repair it it would continue to deteriorate and possibly cause a mechanical failure down the road. As far as changing the tensioner assembly goes, I agree 100%. It seems like everyone has trouble with it eventually. I was looking at the Baker Attitude chain adjuster. Which one do you guys run? Also is there any place that you can buy just the nylon shoe for the stock assembly. I've found them online for every year except 2008-present.

Nearly your entire engine is made of cast aluminum and holding oil. Oil won't attack it if that's your concern. Yes, the black coating is rubbed off but the bare aluminum is fine.

Same here, looks like the moco machined it down for clearance. I would not attempt to alter that in any way weather it is chain slap or moco intent.
