laminate the directions and then use Flexible Magnet Tape with adhesive on the laminate directions .... put it in and take it off and the directions won't run in the rain

AGREED, just saying tapes not going to pull off the paint.....

I write my directions small on a piece of painters tape covered in scotch tape and put it under the flap for the ignition key on my 2013.

I wouldn't put duct tape on any paint. I'd rather be lost. Just stop and look at your map. Much safer and less clean up.

I use blue painters tape attached to dash. Laminate instructions with clear packaging tape. To directions on front. Home directions on back. I have also used dry erase markers on mirror surfaces for quick reminders. Just don't let em on for longer than the day. Try on small area to make sure it will come off. Just recently bought kuryakan phone mount. Works good but battery gets killed quick using gps.

Am I the only one who realizes the OP wants to remove the duct-tape and asks what the best way to do this might be?
He knows not to use it anymore so that's not the advise he is looking for.

Use DE-Solv-it or WD-40 (set for 5 minutes) they will soak through the tape and loosen the glue.

Yes, you're the only one. I think you miss understood what he said. Read it again.
He hasn't used duct tape yet.
