Default Back in the Dyna ranks.

Spent the last couple years since selling my DX flipping Sportsters. Buying em ugly, selling em purty. Was on my way to buy another one last week and this thing popped up. Wound up buying it for the price of a decent 883 Sportster. Bike was way neglected, used and abused by the last owner. He got it from the original owner who seemed to love it and did some nice upgrades. 95in, Cams, Mikuni, T-Header, powdered mags, old style single piston dual disc front with polished lowers. Unfortunately it had some issues too. Starter was shot, few oil leaks, short shocks and everything scraped and the whole bike was dirtier than a $20 motel room. Fixed the starter, oil leaks, ditched those shocks, chopped the air cleaner cover, spent 5-6 hours detailing and doing a front to back service. Still a work in progress, bars/risers/grips coming next week. Then a seat, brake and suspension upgrades. So forth and so on.

Day I got it.

Today, may look like not much has changed but enough to make me happy for now. Deleted the highway pegs, tool roll, short shocks, football air cleaner and 10#'s of dirt and grime.

Couple questions...

What model is that? Low rider?

What shocks did you put on it? They look tall. Are they stock for that bike?

What's a mikuni?

Excuse my ignorance.

Just learning.

No worries, everyone was new at some point.
Plain ol Superglide FXD
Shocks are off a Sportster, they're 13in and not firm enough for this heavy of a bike. But it's better than the ones I took off for now.
A Mikuni is an aftermarket carburetor.

Couple changes over the weekend. Lost those hokey *** pullback t-bars finally. Shifter splines stripped last week, fixed that. Guages worked intermittently so those got jettisoned for now. 8in Drag Specialties risers, narrowed Sportster risers, Biltwell Thruster grips. Bike is 1000% better to ride now. And doesn't look so coonass anymore. How shops sold so many sets of those sh1tty bars is beyond me.

Before and after cockpit view.
