HD Screamin Eagle Stage 4
#31
I had one installed in the spring and could not be happier with the street performance. Had a great tech do the work and kept my warranty intact as well, important given I got a free extended deal when I bought the bike. Agree the 2 into 1 one's are important, D&D did not even want to sell me a quiet baffle system after I told them I was going to Stage 4. And I did get the price reduced by the cost of the tuner as well since I went from a Stage 1 to a 4. Was lucky that RSD has a 58mm plate for my AC as well. With the 259 cams the real performance does not show up until you get above 3000 rpm but impressive anywhere above that. This had been my experience anyway.

This is an interesting and informative article on a 106" build. Lots of good photos and it addresses crank run-out, gear drive cams install, high compression pistons and of course head work. It does start with splitting the cases and welding the crank but plenty of good info beyond that on the top end portion. I highly recommend this read. The guy is clearly a good wrench.
BTW, Part 1 is at the bottom of the page. part 2 above it etc..

We hear about all these builds and all is fine, but not so much when they go bad. I personally probably wouldn't make a post if I grenaded my crank after I wrote about the build......IMHO.

It's not about the kit, it's about the hp/tq that is going way up. This is why I and others recommend checking the crank run-out before going too crazy on your build - if you have a sketchy crank going into a build, well the odds of a problem go up a lot.

1st was the shitty dick head rod style of the 07's and the second was a broken wrist pin/oil pump that killed the crank bearings. The new S&S Timken crank should give me years of trouble free service.
