Default Good MC lift

Hey all,

A buddy of mind is looking at getting a motorcycle life for his shop. I was wondering what kind of experience with different brands some of you guys have and what you think would be the best bang for his buck. Not looking for anything cheap, but not looking to pay a crazy amount for something when cheaper will work just as well.

Thanks!

Good question...I have been looking for a while. I don't need to use it a lot, but the Harbor Freight one kinda scares me. I passed up on a used nice one about a year ago for $600 and I have been kicking myself since. Always on the hunt for a good used one.

I've heard of a lot of people using that harbor freight lift at home with success. You just need to replace the chock. I went with the direct lift. I got the lift (no side extensions) and the black jack for $800. That's for the one with the rear drop out section for easier rear wheel access and the center jack is strong enough to pick my 2013 limited up. I love this thing, best tool I've bought to date, no more crawling around on the ground. I think you can pick up the side extensions for around $200. Highly recommend this lift

I'm servicing 3 bikes with the $400 HF lift. OK, it's not anvil solid but more than servicable for the avid enthusiast.

I just turned 60 and finally had enough of getting up and down off of the cold, hard concrete floor. Should have bought one 10 years ago.

I've heard decent things about the harbor freight lift but I think he's in the same mind set as you. I think he'd rather dump good money into a very nice/solid lift than throw his $18,000 bike on something he doesn't trust.

Been looking at these myself lately. Craftsman red jack w/grade 8 bolt mod or the j&s jack. Think I'll go with the j&s.

I think he is in search of an actual lift or table not just a center stand/ jack.

I dont own one, but I would not use a Harbor Freight lift table.

I have some great friends who often wrench on mopeds (the real ones from the 60's and 70's, that have pedals and such) and they got a harbor freight lift to wrench on. They loved it for those lighter bikes, but being around it, using it, and helping them work on some things I would not trust it for heftier big v-twin bikes. It is a bit wobbly when raised, not very smooth lifting or lowering, and as said the wheel chock is wimpy.

Now my uncle/ boss has a Titan lift for his '14 street glide. That I think is built MUCH better. It has a noticeably thicker table top, the wheel chock actually has some testicular fortitude, and being pneumatic it lifts and lowers, easy and smooth and with much less effort. The locking mechanism for the table is also pretty solid. only problem he's had with it is we had to get a new air line because the PO broke a fitting.
