Thank you to everyone that shared their warm stories about why they hate mid controls. And a special thank you to those that answered my question about how difficult the job might be. Im trying to figure out if I just need to buy mids and the primary cover for the mids, or if there is more to it than that? Thx again

Do you know if your bike had mids on it from the factory? You can tell by a chrome beauty cap on the shifter shaft. If you have the cap then you dont have to change the inner and outer primary covers. Then you just have to put the origional pegs, shifter and brake hardware back on.

Heres a pic with the chrome cap. This is a forward conversion, from mids.

The second pic are a set of mids that some one took off.
Hope this helps.

If your outer primary has the hole in it for the shifter shaft you should be fine. If it doesn't who may need both the inner and outer primary covers as started above.

Yes you are right....was so hard to find my street bob with mid....so I gave up, went in to many dealerships finally......found my bike and had them move them back included in my price....and threw in with installation Burly slam lowering kit....and reduced reach seat....took two weeks to get them to agree with my terms....but at last they did. Like I said we went back and forth for 10 days but finally they said congrats ...so yay bought mine yesterday!!!!!!! They wanted to move 2014 floor"bikes

Awesome, thank you all, that info really helped. Several of the bikes Im looking at with forward controls have the cap in the priary cover, so thats good if I decide to go with one of them. Thanks again.

I wish someone sold dual controls so I could brake and shift from either mids or forwards. If I had the spare time and money I'd buy a set of forwards and attempt to engineer dual controls.
I brake and down shift with my feet on the highway pegs now. If I can figure out some addition to my left boot heel, I'll be up shifting off the highway pegs too. No need for dual controls, at least for me.
Having started riding in the dirt, I find forwards awkward.
Actually, I hate forwards, but that is only my opinion.
Everyone needs to go with what works for their own selves.

I have a complete set of Dyna police footboards and controls stashed away, in case I ever get to the point where I think I need footboards.

But I don't see that point on the horizon yet.
