Whats wrong with mounting it on the VC? I think all the options will look cool on your sled.

butt,

I find it easiest to start the manifold bolts before you torque the cylinders to the cases.

just start them, not finish them til later.............

Good tip mud I have seen you give that advice before so I already had that in my head. Do you have a picture of how you mounted your oil pressure gauge to your tank? Ive searched and searched but cannot find it

I'm trying to keep the gauge in my line of sight. Chances are you wont be looking directly at the gauge but if it is in your line of sight then you may be lucky enough to see it drop suddenly and shut her down in time. At least that's the idea I have in my brain... Thanks for the thoughts tho

Nothing wrong with having it on the valve cover. Tho I have heard some guys complaining that it gets warm on your leg. I just want to keep the gauge in front of me. I think I'm going to put it like it is in picture #2 and make up a nice spacer on my buddies lathe. See how bad I can screw that up haha

Back to an earlier subject, I sure would like to have seen you guys slip that fully built engine in. Did you have a helper or some kind of engine lift? It took me awhile and a lot of effort just to put my crankcase in by myself - had to be tilted a little this way then tilted that way.....I did not find it very difficult to put the cylinders/heads/rockers on in the frame. Now that frickin piston clip....

Thanks for the pics mud. Here's what I rigged up from what I could find at ACE. I think it's going to work perfect it's nice and sturdy. I'll powder coat or paint the spacers so they blend in. I put the tank on for a second and it looks like it will clear no problem. Shouldn't be in the way getting fuel or anything. What do you guys think?

That is a great idea on the mounting of that oil gauge.
Very nice.
What is the part # for that oil gauge?

Thank you sir! I think it came out pretty slick, the spacer fit perfectly in the countersunk hole so that should help with strength. It will look way better after the spacers are black, they won't stand out so much. You could swing the gauge around the other way and put another gauge on the other bolt if you wanted an oil temp gauge too

Edit: The gauge and cup are both auto meter. Gauge is z series pn 2604 and the cup is 2204
