That's the sort of crap that takes all the fun out of doing engine work! Keep us updated...
He mentioned he could port the older head but it has almost 0% chance of having the same flow as the front unless I sent both to get CNC ported, which I am not in for. I did find a rear head from an 06 off of Ebay so I should have the replacement next week. I'm in no rush, but a little expense I wasn't expecting.

Glad you found a proper '06 head; I wasn't sure if the older head could be salvaged; heads are just about the only thing I send out to a 'real' expert They're tricky bastages to get right...

With winter upon us in the north it's a good time to find these problems and get them corrected before spring; now your ride is going to have the correct heads and get a bit of machinist lovin' at the same time

Went to HD Swansea today cos my shift peg rubber is worn at the edge. Wanted £12 for a new peg when all I need is the rubber. Went home, took off the peg, reversed the rubber and fixed back on. Job done! When that side wears, I'll get a new peg, I suppose. Unfortunately we get to pay high prices for spares in the UK due to shipping. Still prefer Harleys though!

When the "new" rubber wears down, just get a piece of fuel line and slip it over the end of the shifter. Buy a foot long piece and you'll have 10 or so extras!

Doin some spray bombing. Plus fixed the master cylinder. Pretty close match. Definitely cheaper than a new master cylinder.

All I did yesterday was fire the bike up and go for a quick ride in the cold.

Pulled the battery out of the Wide Glide; it's 18 months old but I wanted to put in the Yuasa GYZ20HL anyway. Took it to a friend of a friend for his ride today; he's in a bad spot right now, he did a few rides with the group this past summer and that original battery in his ride is gone.

Doing what I can with what I've got; need to keep him in the wind...
