Default 02 FXDXT, couple questions

First, I'm looking to do a 2 into 1 exhaust. I like the Bassani, but it sits pretty high, and I don't want it to be an issue with my bags. Stock T-sport bags. My other preference is D & D. Looks like that will clear.
Anyone know it the bassani will clear ??

second, I'm going to disassemble forks to have the lowers powder coated. Anything I should do while I'm in there ?? Besides change oil.
Different/ better springs ?? It's a T-sport, so it has the better adjustable forks.

Insight is appreciated.

You can't do anything to the FXDX forks. Like lowering them with new springs. All you can do is repair them, seals and etc.

Both RaceTech and Works make springs for the Showa Cartridge forks. I use Type E oil in them. Not too heavy not too light. I like the lighter oil in these forks so the valves work a little smoother (IMHO) I've used heavy oil before in them and felt like my comp and reb adjustments made no difference unless at full hard or full soft. The lighter oil made small adjustments seem noticeable.. But that could have been a placebo effect, who knows?

That's good to know. Back in 04 when I got my FXDX there were no after market parts for the forks. When I lowered the rear I had to live with the front end up higher then the rear.

not really looking to lower them. Just seeing if there is better parts out there, and if any experience with them.
Thanks for the tip on the type E oil. I will go that route.
I personally think they went overboard on all the adjustments. On a dirt bike I can see, but, for 99% of riders, its hard to tell the difference when most bumps only use 2" of travel.
Thanks for the info.
