Default Will my OE rear wheel handle a wider tire?

I still have the original 13 spoke wheels on my 2005 Low Rider. Rear wheel is part number 41015-00. Factory rear tire width is 150. Setting aside any other fit issues (fender, etc.) does anyone know whether my rear wheel is wide enough to handle a wider tire... a 160 width for example? Or will a new, wider, wheel also be required?

Thanks.

The stock 2005 Low Rider has a 3.00 wide rear rim. You can probably get away with a 160 width tire but I would not go any wider unless your rim is wider than stock. I have a 4.50 wide rim with a 180 width tire and it fills out the fender nice and clears everything. The stock tire width for that rim was 160.

What I have been told in the past is its a safe bet that you can normally fit 1 size larger than stock on your stock rim. I am currently running a 200 rear on my WG that had a 180 stock. Snug fit but no issues and looks better lol.

That's Cool, but it wouldn't be "Recommended" on the 4.5 x 17 rim.

In fact HDwheels has a special note about your application of even putting a 180 on your 4.5.

Per HDwheels:
** Only 180/60-17 Dunlop GT502 , Pirelli Night Dragon and Michelin Scorcher 31 tire fits on 17x4.5 rim

But i'm sure it looks good...Fatties (tires) usually do
