I got a Garmin, the only thing I use it for is in the car when on long trips for where the closes bathroom when the wife has a terrible urge!

My main GPS is put out by TXDOT, There free at rest stops.

Google maps on the Iphone, bluetooth to my head phones. I can listen to music too, and the maps voice cuts in when approaching a turn. I can keep the phone in my inside jacket or vest pocket.

When using iPhone/ Bluetooth, what are you using for earbuds or headphones? I like this idea, pretty simple solution.

I have an older basic Garmin Nuvi that I carry with me along with the power cable but I mostly use the one on my smart phone...The one on my phone is effective 90% of the time and I break out the Garmin when the phone system is not tracking...I like to listen to music on my phone via my Plantronics BackBeat Go 2 Bluetooth stereo ear buds when I am riding and the GPS cuts in and gives me ample warning when I need to turn, what direction, and what road I need to turn on. The quick locate feature on the Garmin is great for directing me to a gas station when I am way out in the boonies and getting low.

I use a basic Garmin car model 50LM. I have a handlebar RAM mount & cradle(Both available off of Amazon for very reasonable prices). If I change GPS models, I can keep the mount and buy a new cradle. I hardwired a mini usb plug from the battery. I also have a universal X-grip from RAM which allows me to ride with my Blackberry phone, which I can also power with a mini to micro adapter(Amazon) that I slip on the mini usb plug. PM me if you need more info.

I use a 6" TomTom I made a mount for using the ball out a 3/8" rodend welded to about a 3" piece 3/8" round stock and then welded to a 2 piece 1 1/4" shaft clamp or collar. Paint it up and mount it on bars. Pop the gps off car mount and pop it on homemade mount and plug in to powerpoint I added to right side of bike and I have huge display my old *** can actually see and can even hear it. Cheap to me and works great.

I use the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Moss grows on the north side of trees. And on some occasions I use the technology of road signs.

That has worked since I started riding in 1956 and have since covered most of the North American Continent.

Had a portable Garmin and gave it away. Have a Tom Tom in a box(somewhere). The RGC CVO Ultra came with one standard. It is still in the original box in the tour pack.

On many long rides I do not even know where I will decide to turn so how could some stupid little electric box know?

The thought "I wonder were that road goes?" has led to many discoveries. Never been lost. May not quite know where I was exactly sometimes but there was road ahead of me. If not turn around. Where is the next gas station/restaurant/motel? It is on the road ahead and you will get there. What brand? Who gives a ****.

Garmin Nuvi with holder by Ram Mount. Only mounted when on long trips and only on in or near big cities with crazy highways (Dallas).
Also come in handy if riding in a group when the lead rider heads off into nowhere. Saving spot with no name you may want to return to.

I have a Garmin Zumo 550 on my Wide Glide, but both of my FLSTC's have no navigation-more an inconvenience than anything else. Most of my "serious" navigation issues are work related, and I just use the Nav system in my F150 in those cases.
