I've never run the actual HD 1/4, but I ran the Gauntlet from Memphis Shades, which is very similar and I've run T-Sport repop with an adjustable 14.5" shield. The T-Sport killed the Gauntlet as far actual wind redirection. The T-Sport ride like it was actually designed to move air around you, not just block it and throw it up over you.

I just rode the last two days without any fairing on at all, due to a pending trade with another guy for a FXRT fairing, and the difference between my T-Sport and no fairing is ridiculous. I legitimately forgot what it feels like to go 80 mph without it.

Get the JD T-Sport, you will not regret it.

Im 6'4" I have a T-Sport with a 16.5 windshield and a sporty with a 1/4 fairing

I have ridden both bike a good deal, before I got the fxdxt all I had was the sporty and for the longest time I had nothing up front blocking the wind. When I decide to pull the trigger on a HD 1/4 fairing it was a huge improvement, the sporty does sit a little low in the saddle but with my height I still experience buffering. I always go out with a full face helmet and the amount of buffering I have isn't enough for me to complain about since the helmet compensates for this.
However since owning a fxdxt with a 16.5 (which still looks bitchin) I have found myself spoiled. As far as clip on windshields... throw them out I hate the way they look. But with the T having a windshield built into a fairing just best of both worlds. Looks great and I don't find myself fighting the wind or buffering.
I use to be a no windshield kind of guy, but with todays options and my experience I don't think Ill ever go without a fairing/windshield combo again.
All that being said I do plan to add a Laminar lip to the 1/4 on the sporty, from my research that should clear up any buffering and wind I still have as well as keep the smaller clean look a 1/4 provides

If I was to buy a dyna with nothing upfront today... I wouldn't hesitate to buy a fxdxt fairing.... Might even be the first mod I'd do

I'm running 14.5 now. On my last bike the 12.5 worked better than the 14.5. Im 5'11 for what it's worth.

To add to what he said, I am 5'9" and have the 12" windshield. The 14" would most likely be fine for you at 6 ft.

Running the Memphis Shades Cafe and it's great.sitting straight up wind hits the forehead. quick attach mounts as well so it comes off in 10 seconds.
