I'm not sure about the oil feed holes, but I tooled around on it yesterday for about a half hour, high rpms and speeds, and there's still decent chatter. I listened to front and rear and it everything seems to be about the same from what I can discern, so should I just put one cylinder at a time on the base circle and extend them .02 to .04 (not sure how many flats that would be, my math is fuzzy) or put them all back to 0 lash and go a full 24 instead of 20 like I did the first time?

My tuner(Steve - GMR) has always said the oil holes on the lifters can go either way, no difference.

I would start over at zero lash, not really saving much time by trying to extend them from where they are.

24 flats or 4 complete turns on S&S prs will set the prs into the lifters .125".

Default Clatter

This may be a dumb post. Did you change oil after making changes? When I changer my bike from standard HD petroleum oil to HD synthetic the valve noise increased considerably.

Started over from 0 lash (double checked). 24 flats on each later, sounds 100 times better now. If I get it run up on the road at high rpms and it's still ticking after (there is some now, not too bad though) should I go a few more flats or just leave it? ..........Been running synthetic for 10,000 miles so it wasn't that.

Good to hear! You could go to 26 flats if you want to but I would be hesitant to go past that. I don't think it is too unusual to hear more valvetrain noise with bigger cams so maybe it is what it is now. If you are still bothered you might try some S&S lifters to go with the prs and cams.

How does the bike feel? Hope you are enjoying the extra performance!

Yea I'm gonna tool around with it for a few and bring it to my indy shop when it warms up to see what they think of the noise, I'm sure it's pretty standard. With those adj prs I can do lifters easy in the future so that's a good call, and I plan on it.

I really noticed it kicking in midway through 3rd gear, and it just wouldn't stop it seemed like, so I'm looking forward to seeing what it'll do when I can actually put some miles on. This was the first bike motor work I've done (I've always built muscle cars in the past) and I appreciate all your help to keep me on the right track dude.

The valve train in my 2001 Road King was louder after a cam change than my 2007 Road Glide is. Both had Andrews TW37 cams. I wonder if the difference is in the valve springs. The later models have the beehive springs. I've since gone to TW48 cams in the Road Glide, it is still as quiet as it was stock.

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that some cams change the geometry of the rods slightly, causing more noise in the top end over stock. Not sure if that applies here, but it's a theory.
