Fairing/Windshield

Yea I'm sure you'll get lots of pictures and opinions on this. I seriously considered getting a quick detach 1/4 fairing or sleek windshield for when I take the ol lady on the highway. I haven't made any trips over 150 miles roundtrip yet but I can see where they would be beneficial on high speed long distance runs. I'll be subscribing to this thread to see pics and opinions because I'm intrested as well.

Wg windshields
Here's a couple I have. A HD clap on. It was their lowest version. Light smoke. It helps keep the wind off my chest but I get a lot of buffeting and wind from below. My beard would blow straight up in my face and mouth. It just claps on to the forks. Removes easily with nothing left behind. Maybe if it was tall it might help wind the buffeting. The other is a Memphis shades bat wing with lower air deflector and low windshield. I just bought it in December. I was only able to try it once, but seemed much better. less turbulence behind the fairing. Clamps on to bracket that stay on the forks. Both are excellent quality. I'm 5'8"my seat is 1" lower than stock with 10" wild1 bars. I probley should of gone a little higher on both. I can't see anything smaller doing anything to control the wind. But they do look cool. Fashion vs. Function. ????

Harley offers a 'Super Sport' model windsheild that has a much slimmer profile that the traditional 'police style' windsheilds. This was my clip on comromise between the traditional and a fairing. In short, they are pretty invisable looking yet still offer some degree of wind break. You can even cut them down if you like and Rifle makes a replacement sheild that is wider at the bottom for more protection.

windshield
i had the clamp on windshield on my 2011 dyna but grew tired of the buffeting in the wind and at speed. I'm now running the Conely's 1/4 fairing that does allow a bit more wind but literally cuts through the air compared to the windshield. i recommend installing it a bit higher as it will direct the wind around your upper body and helmet..
