Default Trade in Value

Im thinking about trading in my 2012 Wide Glide. I have added some accessories and mods. My question is should I return it stock to get the best trade in value? What Ive done to it:
1. 16" apes on 1" risers
2. forward control 3" extension
3. Stock exhaust but has aftermarket baffles
4. stage 1 air cleaner arlen ness
5. computer programmer - fuel moto
6. Sissy bar
7. Luggage Rack

Thanks!

Bring it back to stock and then sell your aftermarket parts. Or try selling as is to a private party.

Between hubby and I we have traded in several motorcycles. We have done it both ways. But know this - you will not get what you think you should for the extras. You can mention it to the dealer that you have "x" amount of money in parts on it and would like consideration - but don't count on them giving you much. If you negotiate hard (I'm the wheeler/dealer of the family, lol!), you could get Something ....

You can take the parts off and sell them, but that can be a pain in the butt, and even then, you may get more for the parts that way, but still not what you think you should. Just the posting of the for sale items, the packing up and shipping can be a PITA, but if you have the time, and you can wait for the parts to sell that's maybe the way to go. Even if you offer items for a good price, be prepared for people to basically want you to give the stuff away. But you can always hold out.

I've been told that with extras, there are as many people who will hate them as there are people who will love them. I've never gotten anything extra for any mods on trade-ins.

I traded in my decked out Suzuki when I bought my Street Bob.

After they gave me the trade in value, I stated that I was taking all the extras off...they did not care.

I sold all the extras for a great deal to the buyers, which allowed me a quick sell and a small recoup of my money.

Too many people remove the extras and want to sell for top dollar...I understand money has been spent and everyone wants as much back as possible, but getting rid of it quickly helps the healing begin! lol

I would remove all the accessories and trade. you will get pennies for them on a trade if anything.
Unless they are willing to give a decent price on em which I doubt.

There is only one way to find out, ride the scoot over to the dealer and tell them to give you their best price as-is, then ask them for their best price if you took X,Y & Z off and put stock back on.
I'll bet they will be the same number or that the the amount of the difference will be less than you taking them off and selling them separately.
Start with trying to sell them on CL first - no fee, no shipping - then move to here & Ebay.

I'd take everything off except items 1 & 3,, those aren't worth the trouble.

I think some of the mods you did might actually hurt the value. most people dont want extended forwards or that type of air cleaner. and some may say that apes make that particular bike less desirable as well.

according to my local dealer here in Houston, the apes are a big negative and will cost you points.

return back to stock and sell the parts. Even if you were selling blue book does not take into account for most of you mods.
