It's pretty simple:

The only thing is there will be a pretty large hole left in the fender when the tail light assembly is removed.

I am wondering about a tag mount to cover that hole and will the turn /stop lights work properly with the center light unplugged ?

I know several guys have gone the plate route, so it should be doable. I think the other lights will still work but maybe someone can chime in for sure...?

Your stop/turn taillights should still work if you unplug the brake light. Also, I have seen plates being used to cover the holes. The big issue is the plate won't cover all the holes. Another issue is a new license plate frame won't line up with the screw holes so you will have to drill the fender. The way I have seen it in the past is an aftermarket tag frame with a tag light (required by law) mounted so the two bottom screw holes are still exposed. Then just put some decorative bolts to fill the exposed holes. One more issue is the tail light assembly sometimes damages paint and/or the paint under the assembly does not fade at the same rate as the exposed paint.

I'm about to ditch that light on my 2011 FXDWG and replace it with the Edge Light kit from the MoCo….. did you have any issues with your turn sigs after removal of the tail light ? I'm assuming that you have run/turn/brake as standard operation on your Bob ?
