Your right about that, I didnt tap the fitting all the way down. Left a couple threads so it wouldnt seat so deep, but turned out deep than I thought. Obviously putting a washer on it wont help being a npt tap. I could pull them out and use grinder to cut a channel in the side.
you can wrap some Teflon tape for sealing threads, go a couple times around the fitting and when u re install fittings they will go in and start to tighten up sooner. that is what I did and than stopped when fitting where flush with the bottom of plate openings.
