Touring calipers and rotors were a perfect fit onto my 2008 FXDF:

I want to chime in with a question. On my FXDXT the twin disk is outstanding works like a dream... On my 883R (both came with twin disk) the front feels spongy. I was told this is a common problem on the 4 piston calibers and they need cleaned from time to time. I do this and the 883R works just as good as ever but after long spongy again. This is due to a couple of the pistons getting covered in brake dust and getting a little stuck. Would it be worth it to just do a Brembo front end swap on the sporty... runs like 150-200 so not much at all.
Also why is the FXDXT so good with the same front end in comparison to the R?

Depends on the riding style/habits
Twin disk come on R and S model sportsters, Super Glide Sport dyna's ect...
Bikes that get ridden a little harder, perhaps raced. If someone want to ride to that standard yeah Id upgrade in a heartbeat.
Also comes on touring but that due to weigh

I've owned bikes with single and dual disc brakes up front and there's no comparison, I most definitely want that much front braking power. If you'd asked me before I'd owned a bike with duals, I would've probably said they weren't necessary.

Hi,

I know this thread is over a year old. I recently picked up an '03 fxdl.

Would it still be beneficial to run the Brembo caliper on a single disc set up?

Thanks,
Brian
