Spinning the orange wheels a little faster today
My last round of mods on my 2010 Street Bob a couple seasons ago got me close to where I wanted my bike to be. After this winter I'm even closer and very happy with the outcome even after a few hiccups but that is almost to be expected. haha Like usual I used this forum to find most of the info needed to complete my project so thanks to everyone for the help.
I've always wanted to upgrade my 96" to something bigger and I got that opportunity after picking up an HD 103" and Screaming Eagele 259e cam kit part number 27513-08C off of the classifieds section with low miles. Ended up having to re-use my stock jugs and have them bored to fit the 103" pistons since the set in the kit were out of round and slightly over sized. An extra $160 later I'm happy with them being all black instead of having the contrast cut fins. Picked up a full engine gasket kit and a new set of rings for the pistons then got to it. I'm happy to say I was able to do all the work myself except for the dyno tune.
Then of course since doing the engine modification what better time to switch up the exhaust for a higher performance 2 into 1. Ended up going with the Bassani Road Rage part#13122J. I'm really happy with the look, the sound and the performance! I went with this specific model so that there is only one pipe below the cam chest so that there was more clearance for turning.
I am very happy with the performance outcome. Ended up with 100 hp and 115 ft-lbs torque which is a crazy leap from where I was at before!!!!
Added in some more gloss black powder since the engine was apart. I previously had my fender lowered and tail light hole removed by Southeast Customs. I was also running a 200mm rear tire and 11" progressive shocks and had no issues with rubbing or bottoming out with the fender. Then decided to pick up a set of stock bagger air shocks and had them cut down to 11.5" by Phoenix Customs. Shortly after I found out (the hard way) that the air shocks do not bottom out before the the tire hit the fender and bubbled the paint off. So had the fender repainted and I sent the shocks back to phoenix customs and had them put a stop in the shocks so that they stop when the shock is 10" eye to eye and now no issues. It was a pretty expensive oops so please learn from my mistake.
I also decided to get a speedo/tach combo which is really great to have and it also has an unlimited amount of color options. HD part #70900274 for 04'-11' dynas
The snow here in North Dakota has finally melted so I'm off to ride this thing like I stole it. Thanks for the inspiration, the help and for taking the time to check out my progress!
