Default Superglide custom project overview-Susie

Hi,

Some of you already know of the transformation that is taking place with my 2005 Superglide FXDI. Since it has been awhile, I thought I would list the items awaiting installation and the 2-3 items left to get to finish the project. I call this "Susie's" EXTREME MAKEOVER!!!![&:]

Items awaiting installation:
-Rick Doss 41mm forks, waterfall design, 3 degree rake, all chrome
-3 degree bearing cups, custom milled by "R Racing" to work with the Doss forks
-13" Mini-Ape Hangers with chrome levers and switching, black buttons
-All cables braided steel with clear plastic coating
-21" Narrow hub front wheel, hub, spokes, nipples, rim~everything chromed
-Hawg Halters narrow hub to 41mm Fork Adapter kit, polished billet aluminum
-front and rear Harley replacement brake calipers, all chromed
-Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom chrome disc rear wheel (500-800 miles on rim)
-complete rear wheel bearing rebuild kit so it is brand new/fresh when installed
-2nd set of 2005 FXDI sheetmetal for custom paintjob, with CCI "FXR" front fender
-Custom milled fork stop by Reichard Racing to allow Softtail forks to work on a DYNA frame
-chromed button head screws to fill in holes on right side of front hub
-front turn signal relocation brackets to fork tubes, chromed
-Dream Weavers Pro Street license plate bracket, Horizontal mount, Model A tailight, vintage lense
-Billet aluminum 5 3/4" diameter headlight, 7 inches long, Tri-Bar with clear lense

Still to purchase:
-Roland Sands Valve covers??
-Kuryakyn 1" dia. turn signals front and rear??

Note:
The custom paintjob will be one of about 3 different themes I'm still kicking around in my head.....black base with old skool yellow faded to orange flames, satin powdercoat gold or silver, or a dark green candy over black base marbelized finish. The rear fender tailight hole and other holes will be filled and shaved, as I have a Dream Weaver Pro Street horizontal flat license plate setup with Model A tailight with the vitnage red lense......

Other than that, my Superglide will be finished! This is how you waste alot of $$$ on a Superglide that is worth next to nothing if you ever sell....since I decided to keep her, and forgo getting a 2nd bike, I decided to build this one up!

Well, lowrider shocks are 11.5 inches, and mine are 11". For 2 up riding, I'd probably go with the 11.5 so I'm not bottoming out. Progressive shocks, IMHO, are WAY better than the stock shocks.

Traveler is your a stock 88 other than the cam, and i was thinking of just doing the cams for this season to save some cash, did you notice much of a difference from stock to cam.
Thanks

S&S 510G is a real strong cam in a stock 88

510G's require NO cam chest clearancing, if you cut the old pushrods out with bolt cutters and use adjsutable pushrods, the top end doesn't even have to be touched, saving a ton in labor costs and down time! (I used the Screamin Eagle adjsutables....VERY nice!)

510G's work with stock valvesprings

Keep in mind....this is a 3,000+ RPM range cam. Has a real lopey idle, and gear driven cmas have a little whine to them!

The bike WILL have to be-retuned after isntallation of this cam.

IMHO...don't even think of using this cam if you want the stock mufflers and intake....waste of $$$$

If you want a stock type gear drive cam, go with an Andrews T-26 of something like that....this is a Hot-Rod cam that works with stock compression, and you lose no reliability.

Lastly...it's made by S&S....Nothing more needs to be said.

I am looking forward to finished project. I cant imagine picking witch paint. There is a lot of paint out there and I think paint can make or (not make) a bike.
