Default Looking to buy a 2007 Street bob and have some ?'s

SO looking at a 2007 street bob with 10,000 miles on it. It needs tires, 10k service hasn't been done, and while taking it out for a spin I noticed a couple things.

The front felt a bit awkward like it was either a bit unstable or it could have been the forward controls which I am NOT used to (come from sport and super sport bikes).

As I was in 3rd I hit the throttle and then backed off which resulted in a HUGE backfire and not sure if that is normal or an issue.

Thats about all I can think of at this time about the bike right now.

Here is the link and thanks: http://spokane.craigslist.org/mcy/5001308308.html

The backfire is normal for a handful of throttle that gets back per off quick, especially in a bike with a stage 1 and less than adequate tune e.x. Dealer download.

Can't help you with the stability question. Do you own and ride cruisers today? If not, it could be as simple as the transition to the genre.

Bike looks like a nice find. 07's are nice cuz they don't have the integrated riser trees, but they have the 96 and a six speed.

I would chalk it up to the transition as I do NOT own or have ridden cruisers before hand.

I will check into the dealer download dealy see if it has ever been done and I think I will call him tomorrow about the bike and try getting it cheaper since it needs tires front and back, new grips as they are worn to ****, and the 10k service. May bring it down over $1k ^.^

I am guessing you already have a good indy lined up. Watch for dive on the front end. Heavier oil in the forks will help.

If it hasn't had the ECU flashed for Stage 1 get the Superchips tuner instead of the dealer download. If it doesn't have any back pressure (no baffles) in will pop on decel. Baffles or torque inserts will help. Might need a tuner of some sort to fine tune it.

Love my 07 Bob with no problems except tires keep needing replaced.

I doubt it has had a download form either dealer or another company. I didn't feel any dip in the front but I didn't brake that hard as it was 2nd time on a cruiser and I felt awkwardly unbalanced. Even from take off I instinctively put my feet back for a second LOL

Call the guy and ask if he has done anything for a tune (xied's, download, tuner etc...). Its pretty common to get decell popping and backfire when you back off the throttle fast. If your tires are shot some new tires can improve the steering at speed. Something else to think about if your planning on letting the dealership do the 10k service and installing fresh rubber plan on spending 6 - 700+ dollars. Personally I think the price is way too high

If your indie doesn't know Harleys, FIND ONE. Let him go over it. Your local dealer should be able to look up the serial and tell you about what maintenance was done at HD.
