Default Broke My Belt

I noticed a small appears to be punched out area on my drive belt, the area is about 1/2" in diameter & on the edge of the belt.., I continued to drive on it gently for another 50 mile so to get it to a shop.. appears that a rock may have gotten under it??

I happende to be driving though a gravel parking lot the night before the day I noticed it, I guess I should avoid gravel lots from now on..

anybody have any similar stories?

how many hours in shop labor is this going to cost me? Half the amn bike has to com apart..

and the suckiest part is this week is about the nicest weather week we've had all year. I'm sure the day I go to pick-up the bike it will rain., never fails.

Bummer! (knock on wood)
Around here the story is it's a 3-4hr shop time job,, plus the cost of the belt your looking at -- indie-$400/Pro shop-$600

I'd be very happy if it only came out to 4 hours, the belt was pretty cheap too, like $190 from JP cycles with 2 day shipping.

good thing is bike needed an oil change anyway & I'm also getting some risers & braided cables put on while it's there.

Do the work yourself, save $$$ and learn about your bike.

Yes I lost my belt after it broke...fortunately less than 1/2 from home and my buddy and I pushed it to my garage. I had parts missing from rubbing on the inside of the tire - shop that did the work said not to worry. lol They were wrong. They paid for belt and I did the work. Lets me understand the bike better, was able to add LED lighting to the inside of the fenders and check other parts of the bike. Only thing I did not do that I wished I would have done is to have changed out the swingarm bushings.
