Default Red Key Light came on after installing LED turn signals...

I have LED's on the front of my 2006 Street Bob, so I decided to put LED's on the back yesterday. Got them installed and working, although they flash abnormally fast, and see that the little red key light on the speedo cluster came on. Pulled the trouble code and came up under S TSM/TSSM codes b1121 and b1122 ...which is Left/Right Turn Output Fault - HFSM Left/Right Turn Output Open....Cleared the codes and they came up again after running the bike again.

WTF...HELP

Others on this site will know more Harley specific, but LED lights have much higher resistance than incondecent lights. In many things that I have worked on, the light controller sees this as a bulb out (too high resistance or an open element). There should be something plug and play to correct this. Hope this helps

You need a load equalizer. Same thing happened to me. It's a cheap, easy fix.

Not that it matters, but LEDs have a much lower resitance, which fools the TSSM into thinking some or all of the bulbs are blown out. That's why load equilizer or signal stabilizer is needed. Incidentally, newer CANBUS bikes dont rely on feedback from the bulb, and typically do not need a load equilizer.

I got mine from the shop I go to. You can also get them online. They're not expensive (under $50) and they just attach to a clip going to the signal under the seat.

Yea, search the internet for the resistors needed. I think if you want to splice some wires, you can do what you need for under $5.

Default Try this first - mine didn't need equalizer!!!

When I changed my rear turn bulbs for LEDs, (pre-canbus 2011 FXDB) my blink rate was fast, red key light etc.

All I had to do was I re-set the TSSM ('Turn Signal Security Module'). Follow these steps:

- Pull the front brake lever and hold it on.
- Turn ignition ON. Brake light should now be on.
- Push the left signal button, then push the right signal button immediately.
- This will reset the TSSM.

My blink rate has been normal ever since. No equaliser, no error lights, all works perfect...

I don't know if yours is the same TSSM as mine (2011), but hopefully that'll help.
