Default Street Bob for longer fast highway rides? Or is V-rod the only choice?

How would a street bob do for longer highway rides on the autobahn with cruising speeds of 115 mph (180 kmh)?

I am just about the swipe the card for a v-rod muscle because it will do it comfortably but I really like the style of the street bob. Softails are out of the
question because of the low lean angle and so are touring bikes because i do all week in/around city riding.

Thanks for your input
Rex

My SB is smooth at 110 mph and I could ride it all day long.
Runs cool, at 110 mph it's not laboring at all.

180km/hr sustained for a long highway wide, you'd be revving pretty high in 6th gear...that's a lot of load for a stock 96 or 103...sounds like a great way to blow up an engine. I start to feel badly for my bike when I hold it steady at 140km/hr.

Might just be me, but running those types of speeds on the Autobahn my first thought isn't I'm buying a Harley, it's I'm buying a BMW or Yamaha FJR If I needed to run constant speeds above 80 MPH my '13 gets traded for a more appropriate machine for the job...

Default Running 115 mph

If you are going to go with a Harley Davidson for the job go with the v-rod!!! You can get a street bob to run those speeds but the bike isn't the best choice for the job!!! Just saying. I love harley davidson but they are cruisers not track bikes.

These motors can, and have, run at redline for days. Literally days. I've heard old timers talk about the R&D on the Evos, they'd run them on an oval track at WOT for three eight hour shifts a day! For weeks on end, 100's of thousands of miles. So, I wouldn't be that worried about a few minutes, or even a whole tank of gas at 110mph, which is what... 4-4200 rpm in sixth?

People are pussies when it comes to riding there bikes. They NEED to be revved out from time to time. That all said, ive seen some rad V-Rod customs over there in the old country. I'd be hard pressed to make those types of decisions. hehehee
