2014 FXDL bad vibrations at 2k rpm
I was riding this weekend and noticed a rumble from the general vicinity of the engine at around 2k rpm when both accelerating and decelerating. It became more pronounced as the ride went on to the point where I got it home while trying to get past that point on the tach as quickly as possible.
The bike has about 2500 miles on it and had the 1k service done.
Anyone out there with a late model dyna had this happen to them so I can know what to expect?

I'll join that club. After about 15 min on my 14 Fat Bob, you can't feel your finger tips anymore. Around 2500-3000 rpm. I have to look down and see if I actually pressed the turn signal button because I can't feel the switch. Dealer said it's normal. I guess everything is normal with a Harley.

While not quite lugging the bike, its near it. So of course the engine is going to have more felt vibrations as the combustions are farther apart, you're also feeling the torque pulses from each cylinder farther apart, and its not making squat for power (unless you have some very torquey cams) So that leads to poor fuel mileage and a lack luster riding experience. Not to mention unsafe should you have to use the throttle to maneuver the bike out of a dangerous spot like a car's blind spot as they start to change lanes. The bike wont want to accelerate very well from 2000RPM should you rip it wide open. Just try a wide open pull from 2000, then try one from 3000 rpm and you'll feel a HUGE difference. That said these bikes start making power around the 2500 mark and more so at 3-5000, So riding just under peak power around 2500-3000rpm makes for less load on the engine, which leads to a longer lasting engine, better fuel economy, and as I would say a more defensive riding preparedness.

2000 RPM should be about 45-50 MPH ! I wouldn't think cruising at that speed would be considered lugging the engine . We aren't talking about those little high winding jap bikes that have no torque down low . A Harley , which is a lot like a slow turning tractor motor makes most of its torque way down low in the RPM range . That's why they are all through with the power range at about 4200.4500 RPM . Stock Harley's are all about torque not horsepower.
