FXDX Question
#11
The red one looks like a street bob.
I love the look but I can't live with a slammed rear. I will also never have apes again unless behind a bagger fairing. I had a Fat boy Lo with 16" apes and the low rear end, it looked sick but was an awful highway rider.
Was the stock shock length on these dx's 13"?

I think that's what he was going for, but it's definitely a DX. He had pics of it when it was stock.
I'm pretty sure the stock '99 FXDX rears are 13.5". My shocks were long gone by the time I bought the bike, but I have 12.5" Progressive 440's on it right now.
As far as apes go, even my 10" z bars can be a pain in the ***. I ride to work on mine and about 7 miles of my ride is freeway. At first, windy days sucked. But I'm kinda used to it now. I've thought about putting a Conley's fairing on it though. And I think at some point I will go back to lower bars and stock ride height. They're just so fun to ride like that. But I can't afford to go full club style on it right now. $600 shocks, $600 fairing, $600 exhaust, $600 bags, powder coated 13 spoke mags for god-knows-how much... (probably $600, it seems like everything else is) I got too many projects going on at once, and the bike is functional so it's good for now.
